10+ Places to Hand Off Decluttered Stuff, near Jacksonville, Florida
This is simply a resource for places where you can dispose of or hand off items you may want to edit from your household, other than selling it yourself. Selling things on eBay, Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or via yard sale just doesn't work for some people, and most clients I've worked with are more inclined to simply give things away to friends, family, neighbors, or second-hand outlets.
The three most common 2nd-hand options are:
- Typical thrift shops
- Consignment stores, and
- Recycling centers
But turning things over to thrift shops feels even better when the shop you donate to has a purpose you can "get on board with", so below I've listed numerous thrift stores in the Nassau and Duval county areas that are known for their support of various causes (highlighted in green), such as local community low-income citizens, the homeless, pets, survivors of domestic violence, and animals in general. Some offer pickup services for your goods, some do not, but contact links have been included if they do.
Consignment stores often handle clothing, accessories, furniture, and home decor, and as I become more familiar with the area I hope to update this post with more resources for you!
1. Barnabas New to You Resale Store (2 locations)

Accepted donations: gently used clothing, furniture, and household items. "New items are a great asset to Micah's Place because they offset costs the agency would normally incur by buying these items. In most cases, new items are given directly to participants residing in the shelter or seeking outreach services. Survivors often come from intensely controlling environments and providing new items assures them they are worthy of nice things despite what their abuser has told them."

7. Retail Therapy, resale clothing & accessories

How it works:
- We only take things seasonally for consignment
- Consignment is a 60/40 split on anything priced under $100
- $100-$399 is a 50/50 split
- $400 and over is a 40/60 split, 60% going to the consignor
- Cash Buy Out: we will offer you 15-25% of what we originally price the item for. We take all seasons of clothing & accessories all year for this option.

8. Wiggle Worms - Children's Consignment & Boutique
- Merchandise to be consigned must be brought in a plastic bin or laundry basket. Clothing brought in a plastic, trash type, bag will not be accepted
- All clothing MUST be freshly laundered, in excellent condition, showing no signs of wear and of current style.
- We only accept name brand items of current season.
- All toys and other baby gear must have all the parts/pieces, batteries if required and be in clean, like new condition.
- The consignor has 48 hours to pick up any of the items we did not accept or they will be donated and a $5 fee may be applied to the account.
- Once accepted by Wiggle Worms, items will not be returned.
